Woman arrested for calling police over 15,000 times in six months

Japan Today -- Dec 05

A woman has been arrested in Sakai, Osaka, for harassment of the metropolitan police department after having called 110, the emergency number, 15,000 times in the last half year alone. Police said that Tomomi Monmae, 44, an unemployed resident of Sakai, faces charges for fraudulent disturbance of official police business, TBS reported Thursday.

According to police, since May of this year, Monmae has dialed 110 for the Osaka police over 15,000 times, often times dialing over 900 times a day, using her cell phone. Police said that Monmae called countless times, and before even listening to the person on the end of the line, would quickly hang up the phone.

Thoughts:

  1. Maybe she REALLY had the "Hots" for policemen, but too shy to talk to them...
  2. Thank God, call to 110 are free..
  3. That was one way of keeping busy while being unemployed...
  4.  At least she created employment for the operators...
  5. I wonder what her punishment will be?
  6. Last but not least, I hope she gets the necessary help that in needed...
